Regional areas such as Tamworth, Wagga Wagga and Albury in NSW offer very good value. You can buy a three-bedroom brick-veneer house in Tamworth for $200,00 to $250,000 and you can get a rental return of about $280 to $290 a week.
There is a lot to like about NSW regions because they have sizable populations and good facilities. People want to live in those areas and if that's the case, then it also can make sense to own an investment property in the area.
Iy's a bit harder in Queensland as there's only Toowoomba of any scale inland. But it's an area to look at and if you want to consider the coast, then Bowen is a good option.
You can get a house in Bowan for $335,000 in an area where strong growth is expected. There's a lot of development in the region, including billions being spent on upgrading the port. There's also money from the federal government to enhance the look of the area, which helps house prices.
In the Sydney region, I'd be looking at places such as Bexley and Kogarah. Everyone talks about the inner west but there's less discussion about the St George area. Yest it has good transport and facilities. Units in the area are good value.
